Whether you’re new to streaming or an experienced communicator,
getting started with Stream Monkey is simple. Setup takes
just a few quick steps and we're here to assist.
We focus on data, not hours. Without putting restrictions like hours or an 'unlimited' service in place, we can guarantee you get to stream in as high quality as you intend, for as long as you want, and to as many people, devices, and locations that you can reach.
Stream Monkey knows the power of video and we want you to leave an impression. With data, you control the quality to your viewers.
Here's how it works.
When setting up your stream, you choose what data bitrate you want to stream. We have an entire post about how to figure that out. Essentially, the bitrate a viewer watches determines how much data your viewer will consume.
We start our plans at 250 GB (Basic and Pro) and 1000 GB (Premium). The average bitrate watched by our users' viewers is high and good quality compared to most other service providers. To make numbers easy, assume one GB will be used per viewer per hour.
Have questions? We have answers.
Browse our FAQs or chat with us if you have any other questions.
All of our plans have a designated amount of data assigned to them. This refers to two things:
1. A monthly amount of data usage, based on viewers.
2. Total storage for uploaded or saved videos.
So if you are on the 250 GB plan, you will have 250 GB of monthly usage, and you will have 250 GB of total storage space.
Monthly usage is based on viewers. It will factor in the number of viewers, how long they watch, and at what bitrate they are watching. We estimate on average one viewer uses 1 GB of data for one hour watched. We recommend signing up for a trial and streaming for free to get the most accurate estimate of how much data your audience will require before choosing a plan.
You have the freedom to stream with the encoder of your choice, as long as it is compatible with our CDN, Akamai. Learn more about our encoder options.
If you utilize our live transcoding service, we provide an additional stream to send to Facebook as well. If you do not use our transcoding, you will need to send a stream directly to Facebook from your encoder.
File transcoding is included for free. Live transcoding packages start at $99/month for Basic and Pro users, and is included in Premium plans when streaming in 720p for up to 25 hours. Reach out to us for more details.
File transcoding is when we take the video you are uploading or saving in the platform, and make it available for viewing in multiple bitrates. Our Live Transcoding service creates multiple bitrates for your live streams. We also add a stream to Facebook Live and a cloud record feature that saves each event you stream.
720p resolution for 25 hours a month
